Beth Leggitt Receives EIU Leadership Service Award

Beth Leggitt of Oblong, IL received the 2019 Leadership & Service Award from Eastern Illinois
University (EIU)’s College of Health and Human Services at its award ceremony on Wednesday,
March 27, 2019. Leggitt received her bachelor’s degree in communication disorder and sciences
and her master’s degree in communication disorders and sciences from EIU.

Beth started her career as a speech-language pathologist at South Eastern Special Education
working with students with significant communication disorders. She returned to EIU to
complete coursework for certification in school administration and moved into an administrative
position at South Eastern Special Education. Today, Beth supervises speech-language
pathologists, manages the AT library, and supervises both the autism intervention itinerant
services and the autism self-contained programs.

Established in 2009, the College of Education/College of Health and Human Services Alumni
Awards program celebrates and honors alumni who have excelled in their fields. The recipients
of the Leadership & Service Award have had a significant impact in their chosen field,
community, or society
